Welcome all U15BB Players & Families
Welcome to the 24/25 U15 BB season and evaluations

TEAM CULTURE Definitions:

A strong team culture can be defined as one where people and team members are aligned on purpose and empowered to work both individually and collectively on achieving that purpose.

OR…..

“Positive” work or play environments can be defined as those places where there is trust, cooperation, safety, risk-taking support, accountability, and equity.

Perhaps there has been a lack of team culture or direction during the past few seasons. That, though, is in the past. Now is the time to right the ship for our young athletes and this upcoming season, with attempts to make this a most memorable hockey season. What ‘good’ potential ahead is only what we are willing to put into this plan today.

For this upcoming season and beginning with our evaluation process, we will be looking at reshaping this team's culture. It will begin with expectations of those players who want to make this U15BB hockey club. A positive mindset with an appetite to come to the rink will need to be a part of our team culture … whether games, practices or team events. A willingness and thirst for learning on how to be better people and players, regardless of what one is doing, is a good life path anyone should lean towards. Nothing less will be expected for this coming season and this team.

The first two evaluations will consist of a variety of drills, skill work and maybe scrimmage time. To ensure fairness and impartiality, we have asked a team of independent evaluators with many years of rep hockey experience to help us select our team. We will be using all feedback provided to me as a part of this process.  We will be looking for player ability in various hockey skills but will also take into account traits such as competitiveness, teamsmanship, coachability and effort.

Please arrive not later than 40 minutes before the skate. This allows you time to check in and be dressed. Look for the registration table before going to any dressing rooms. All players are expected to be fully dressed at least 5 minutes before the skate begins and ready to get on the ice. **Please also ensure you arrive with all protective hockey gear including neck guards and mouth guards per OMHA guidelines.  Anyone with missing equipment will not be permitted on the ice.

Our scheduled evaluation dates are as follows:

  • 1st evaluation skate - Saturday May 11th, from 5:00 to 6:30pm (Magna/Scotia pad)

  • 2nd evaluation skate - Sunday May 12th, from 5:00 to 16:30pm (Magna/Scotia pad)

  • 3rd evaluation - exhibition game - Thursday May 16th, vs Aurora at 7:45pm (Aurora ACC arena, Lincoln pad)

I will be updating the list of players that I would like to have back for our second evaluation on the team website, no later than 4 hours after the 1st tryout is over.  The list of players that I would like to invite back to our third and final evaluation(exhibition game) will be updated no earlier than 4 hours after the 2nd skate has been completed. I will notify the parents and the players who will be participating in the exhibition game via email on Monday September 26th.

Our final team roster selections will be listed between 11pm and 11:55pm on May 16th, following our 3rd evaluation/exhibition game.

Best of luck to all players.

Sincerely,

Todd Eves

Coach
