U16 AA Renegades Strike Gold In Ottawa
The Newmarket Renegades U16 AA team participated in the the Capitol Gold Rush in Ottawa this past weekend. There was some extremely tough teams in the field and our Renegades squad battled through the round robin going 4-1 and taking the top spot heading in to the playoffs.
The semi final match was against one of the top teams in the Ottawa area, the Gloucester Rangers. This was the team that beat us in the round robin, and turned out to be one of the most exciting games of the weekend. The boys battled hard and earned 1-0 win, and berth into the finals!
The finals saw the Renegades match up against the Sudbury Wolves, the second seed in the tournament and a very talented group. The boys came out flying and earned the victory and the gold medal on the back of excellent team play and two goals each from Ryan Shaw and Andrew Brown.
This was an amazing weekend, filled with team building, learning opportunities and some tough hockey games. We are so proud of what the boys achieved. This is an important building block for the season ahead. I want to thank all of the players, parents and the coaches for everything this weeeknd.
