Minor PeeWee AE skated to a sweet tournament championship over Easter Weekend
The Minor PeeWee AE team competed in the Pickering Spring
Thaw Tournament over Easter Weekend. They dominated all 4 qualifying
games with a record of 13 goals for with only 1 against winning all 4 games to
clinch their 1st place position going into the Championship game. During the qualifying games both our goal tenders were stellar
between the pipes and every skater made it to the game sheet with either a goal
or an assist.
The final match up was against Ajax who had beaten Richmond Hill in their morning game. They got up on us early with a 2 to 0 lead. Going into the 3rd period our boys did not give up. Scoring our first goal early in the 3rd period gave the team the extra push. The second goal came a few minutes later tying the game. As the clock ticked down we were tied at the end of regulation. A five minute sudden death overtime did not provide a game decision so we went into 4 on 4 for one minute...no goal. Then came 3 on 3 for one minute...no goal. Two on two was next...still no goal. We went to one on one. Approximately 12 seconds into the one on one, Josh (Wheels) Carey got possession of the puck and shot one top shelf for the win. It took 42 minutes and 12 seconds of hockey to pull out this exciting win. A great way to end a terrific season. Well done boys!
