My name is Todd Robinson and I am the Head Coach of the U18BB Red team this season. This will be my second season as Head Coach in Newmarket. Overall, I have been involved in helping coach in Newmarket for the last four years and have over ten years of experience helping coach hockey. Exciting news this year!
Exciting news this year! The former MD division is now classified as BB and this season our team will compete for an OMHA Championship and a coveted Red Hat! I believe we have an opportunity to have a very competitive team. This season I will focus on encouraging a fun learning environment, skill and tactical development, and playing as a team. I will be looking for players that are committed to a Team First culture through their efforts and actions on and off the ice. At the U18 age group, I also understand that players typically have more commitments outside of hockey. School will be a priority this season and as such our schedule will include only 1 x 90-minute practice per week. With only one practice, it will be important that players make every effort to be participate fully each week.
Important Notes for all Evaluations.
1. All athletes must be registered for the 2023-2024 season
2. All athletes must purchase an NMHA 'Evaluation Passport'.
3. Please check all your equipment prior to attending Evaluation skates. Players will not be permitted on the ice without proper equipment per the OMHA rules. This includes neck guards and mouth guards.
Please note that the U18BB Red team will only have one final evaluation.
Evaluation - Saturday September 23rd - 8:00pm - Ray Twinney (1) for an exhibition game.
- this final evaluation will be for select players who have been released from the U18BB White team.
- following the exhibition game the final selections for the 2023-2024 U18BB Red team will be posted within 12 hours.
IMPORTANT
All players selected for the 2023-2024 U18BB Red team will be invited to a team meeting to sign their 'Offer of Commitment' and to receive important team information. Because timing is very tight to have the final roster approved by the OMHA, I will be having a mandatory team meeting on Sunday September 24th in the afternoon. Meeting time and location will be shared with all selected players.
