Newmarket Renegades: Battling the Elements in Buffalo Outdoor Riverworks Tournament
The Newmarket Renegades recently showcased their prowess on the ice, at the highly anticipated Buffalo Outdoor Riverworks Tournament. Despite facing biting winds and frigid temperatures, the team's unwavering spirit and skill shone through, leaving an indelible mark on the competitive landscape.




The tournament, renowned for its challenging outdoor setting, drew teams from across the region, all vying for supremacy on the ice. From the outset, the Renegades exuded confidence and determination, displaying a seamless blend of offensive prowess and defensive resilience. 

The team's journey through the tournament was nothing short of captivating. Their first match against the Lysander Lightning set the tone for their campaign, with the Renegades displaying tenacity and precision, securing a hard-fought 3-3 tie in the final minutes of the game.

As the tournament progressed, the Renegades faced diverse challenges,  adapting their strategies to the ever-changing outdoor conditions. The clash against the Raleigh Raptors,  in the second game of the tournament showcased the offensive firepower led by Noah VanDyke scoring 4 goals engaging in a gripping showdown that culminated in another thrilling 6-6 with the Renegades scoring four goals in the final minutes of the game sending shockwaves through the tournament.

In the final game of the round robin format, facing the Howard Huskies, the Renegades left everything on the ice. Despite a valiant effort, they narrowly missed winning the game settling for a 3-2 loss.  However, even with the loss  the team made it through to the Semis Finals against the same Howard Huskies. 

Donning the new Renegades Black jerseys the performance was nothing short of exemplary, but the Huskies seemed to be too much at in the end for boys, earning the Renegades another 3-2 loss.  

The Buffalo Outdoor Riverworks Tournament proved to be a defining chapter in the Renegades' journey, highlighting their resilience, camaraderie, and skill in the face of adversity. As they return to Newmarket, the team will prepare for the upcoming Barrie Classic Tournament at the end of November.
