Minor Atom AA, 2017-2018 (Newmarket Minor Hockey)

The Newmarket Redmen Minor Atom AA Team was excited to welcome back special guest coach Wayne Primeau to lead our team practice. Wayne led some intense compete drills for the team, providing some great instructional tips and tricks for the players throughout practice; and was kind enough to speak to the team on the importance of always being focused, engaged, and working hard during practices ... the team was grateful and appreciative of "Coach" Wayne for sharing his time and expertise with us once again!

The Newmarket Redmen Minor Atom Teams organized a food drive during the recent Newmarket Atom Tournament in support of the Newmarket Food Pantry. The Newmarket Food Pantry is a charitable organization staffed by amazing volunteers; and provides food and other household supplies to families in need in the Newmarket and East Gwillimbury communities.  On Saturday, December 9th, the Minor Atom AA spent the morning at the Newmarket Food Pantry location sorting, organizing and shelving the many donated food and household items. The Newmarket Redmen Minor Atom AA Team welcomed former NHLer Adam Bennett to team practice. Adam led a series of player and team drills, sharing excellent teaching tips on puck control, passing techniques, and shooting techniques. An amazing experience for the team! Many special thanks to Coach Adam for this learning opportunity!

Special congratulations to the Newmarket Redmen Minor Atom AA Team for winning the Essex (Windsor) Early Bird Tournament. The team played their hearts out all weekend. As a result of tenacious forechecking, disciplined defence, and unbelievable goaltending, the team was undefeated through tournament play.  In the finals, the team faced a hard working and talented team from Stoney Creek, and after a strong team performance, the Redmen captured the tournament championship with a 5 - 2 victory! A successful and tremendously fun weekend of hockey and team building.  On behalf of the coaches ...

The Newmarket Redmen Minor Atom AA Team welcomed two very special guests at Day 2 of Team Training Camp. Aidan Brown (former Newmarket Redmen) and Kade Landry from the OHL Barrie Colts joined the team practice and led some drills, and shared some amazing tips on puck handling, passing, shooting and how to communicate with teammates on the ice, providing such a great learning experience for the players.
