Newmarket Novice AE Redmen strike first
Submitted By Albert Bunker on Sunday, February 26, 2017
The Novice AE Redmen defeated the Stars 5 to 3 in game 1 of their series in Richmond Hill.

Kieran Burton opened the scoring for the Redmen to tie the game at 1 midway the first period.  Timothy Huo scored in the second period followed by Pyrs Klein just 57 seconds later with Timothy picking up the assist.  Caiden Gibbons scored his first of the night and the eventual game winner on a beautiful feed from Kieran in the 3rd period and iced the win for the Redmen with just over 2 minutes remaining on a breakaway set up by line mate Christian Ayre.   The hard charging Stars gave everything they had at the end of the game.  Putting the goalie on the bench in favour of the extra attacker, but the Redmen defense and goalie Tyler Nowicki held their ground to secure the win.   Strong performances on defense were had by Rowan Cull, Joshua Tranter and Aiden Dimma.  Congratulations go out to all the boys for a great performance and a hard fought win.  Game 2 of the series is a home at the Magna Centre’s Honda rink Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm.  Go Redmen!
