The Minor Peewee A team have been busy this week helping within the community.

The boys came together at the Newmarket Food Pantry last week, sorting food to help stock the shelves at the pantry. It was a humbling morning understanding the need for the pantry, and the number of people in the community that rely on it. The boys showed enthusiasm in working as a team to sort through the 240 pounds of food they donated.

With the help of Spiritual Care through Southlake Hospital, the boys were also able to help a family, who may have otherwise not had gifts to open Christmas morning. Each player went out and bought gifts and gift cards for the Newmarket family and presented them to Rin from Spiritual Care. Rin was happy to accept the gifts, and will pass them onto this wonderful family, so they can enjoy the holidays as well.

Congratulations to the Minor Peewee A team for winning the Championship at the Bradford Blue & Gold tournament this weekend. Winning 3 out of their 4 games in the Round Robin, the boys came out determined in the semi-final game. After an intense 3 periods, the team worked hard to win 1-0 in overtime.

The championship game against Burlington Eagles was a nail biter. Going into the second period down 2-0, the team stuck to their motto 'Whatever it takes, we work together'. They tied the game 2-2, forcing it into another overtime. With 14 seconds left in the 2nd overtime, the boys stayed strong, winning the Championship game!

Congratulations to the team and coaches! Way to go Redmen!!!!

Congratulations to the Newmarket Redmen Midget AA team who won the Scotia Bank Cup in Mississauga Oct 19th-21st.  The boys won their first 2 games in impressive fashion beating Kitchener 2-1 & the Ottawa Sting 7-2.  After their only loss, the Redmen didn't allow a goal the rest of the tournament. First we beat our close rivals, Stouffville 4-0 to advance into the playoff round, then the boys cruised past Burlington 3-0 in the Semis.  Next was a re-match against the host Mississauga North Stars in the Championship game when the boys once again Shut-Out their opponent 3-0 to earn the Scotia Bank Cup Title.  Stellar Defense, perfect Goaltending and timely goal scoring was the Redmens recipe for success - well done Boys!!!
