Congratulations to the Newmarket Redmen Minor Midget AA team for winning the Motown Cup in Detroit MI this past weekend. The team advance to the championship game after facing the Atlanta Knights (1-1), the Richmond Hill Stars (5-0) and the Macomb Mavericks (10-0). They went on to defeat the Richmond Hill Stars in the championship game 4-2 to claim the gold medal and the Motown Cup. Every player contributed on the scoreboard and showed determination and tenacity on the ice.

Kudos to the Newmarket Redmen Minor Midget AA team for taking the silver medal at the Michael Hutton September Classic tournament at York University this past weekend. The Redmen won 2 of 3 games to qualify and then faced the North York Knights in the semi-finals. Newmarket led throughout the game but the Knights tied it up in the final minutes of the 3rd period to bring it to a shoot out. Nicholas Jarvis scored in the shoot out and Nicholas Tsilfidis shut the door to take the win. Newmarket faced the Clarington Toros (previous OMHA champs) in the finals and gave it everything. Although Clarington took the win 4-0, the Redmen players can be very proud of their performance. Outstanding effort and passion was displayed by every player. Amazing job Redmen!
