Rules
Thanksgiving A - AE
Registration:
- Teams can register at the Evinrude Centre on Friday October 10, 2014 starting at 7:30am
- Teams must register no later than 1 hour prior to their first game
- Team Official registering the Team must have with them a copy of their Approved Team Roster and a signed copy of their Travel Permit. These items should have been emailed or mailed to Tournament Chair prior but please have a copy with you just in case you are asked for them.
Tournament Rules:
This Tournament is OMHA Sanctioned and therefore will follow OMHA Rules and Regulations governing hockey. In addition to these Rules and Regulations the Following will also apply:
- The Referees Decisions are final. There will be no appeal process.
- Each Team must have a Certified Coach and Trainer on the Bench at all Times.
- A Player is allowed to play for one Team only during the Tournament.
- Only Players, Coaches, Trainers, Managers, or Tournament Volunteers to a maximum of 5 are allowed in Dressing Rooms or Dressing Room Hallways before and after games.
- Games may be stopped early if the Referee feels that continuing play is unsafe or detrimental to the best interests of the Players, Officials, and Spectators.
- Any Player or Team Official receiving a penalty listed on the Game Sheet as a GRM (Gross Misconduct) will be automatically suspended from the Tournament. All Game Sheets are sent into OMHA. Please see Discipline section for a list of other infractions that will lead to suspension from the Tournament.
Game Play
Round Robin Games:
- Each team will play 4 Round Robin Games
- Length of Games are as follows:
- Novice to Major Peewee 10-10-10
- Minor Bantam to Major Midget 10-10-15
- Teams will be allowed a 3min warm up
- There will be no Overtime or Time Outs in Round Robin Games
- Ice will not be resurfaced between periods
- Referees decisions are final
- In the case of a 5 goal lead during the 3rd period, the time clock will run continuous.
- Teams should be ready to play no later than 15mins prior to scheduled game time
- Top 4 Teams in each Division will advance to Semi Finals
- Top 4 Teams decided based on point system. Points awarded as follows:
- Win = 2 points, Tie = 1 point, Loss = 0 points
- In the event of a 2-way tie at the end of Round Robin play, tie breaker will be as follows:
- Head to Head
- Team with the combined fewest goals against (all games)
- Team with the combined most goals for (all games)
- Team with the quickest goals scored in any Round Robin game
**Please note that in the event of a 3-way or more tie, “Head to Head” does not count and we will start with “Team with the fewest goals against”.
Semi Final & Final Games:
- Ice will not be resurfaced between periods
- Referees decisions are final
- In the case of a 5 goal lead during the 3rd period, the time clock will run continuous.
- If tied at end of a Semi Final game there will be a 5 minute sudden victory overtime played. If Game is still tied, Game will be decided by a sudden victory shoot out. Players for the shootout to be decided prior to the game and filled out on the game sheet. No player may shoot more than once unless all players on the team have gone and game is yet undecided.
Discipline:
- Any Spectator, Player, or Team Official being verbally aggressive or physically aggressive with Referees, Other Players, Team Officials, Tournament Officials, or other Spectators will be asked to leave the Playing Area and possibly the Arena depending on the situation. Police will be called if necessary.
- Any Player or Team Official receiving any of the following penalties will be suspended from the Tournament and asked to leave the Ice Surface and Player Areas:
- Any infractions with intent to injure (MP40-47, MP71, GM39, GM57-59, GM68, GM71, GM73-78, GM81)
- Physical Abuse or Threatening an Offical (MP24, MP25, MP29, GM21)
- Fighting (GM31, GM33, GM34, GM36, GM37, MP38)
- All Gross Misconduct Penalties (GRM60-69)
- All Game Sheets are forwarded to the OMHA.
