A great start to the season with 2 wins a tie and a loss. The boys fought hard in all 4 games and reacted well to the coach's training camp style. Games 2 through 4 featured a different set of forwards playing defence for a whole game. Despite the unfamiliarity of the position all 10 forwards took the challenge well, listened to the coaching staff and did an awesome job! Our 5 returning D, did well to assist the forwards in learning the position, and made the most of their time up front, contributing to the success of the team. Our 3 new skaters and new goalie gelled well with the returning players.
We had the hardest schedule in the tournament, facing 3 of the 4 teams that made the semi-finals and the 6th place team as well. We never faced the 4 weakest teams. For development, this was excellent to have such tough competition and will help get us off on the right foot. Unfortunately, for moving on in the tournament, this definitely worked against us as we lost the 4th place tie-breaker to Meadowvale on GF%, having all 4 of our games decided by 1 goal or less.
I couldn't be more proud of the team in the first week! Great job!
