Stuart Murray has been involved with NMHA since moving to Newmarket in 2012, supporting his children’s hockey journey by performing a number of volunteer roles. In recent years, Stuart (Coach Stu) has been head coach of the U-13 A team, a non-parent coach with the 2023-2024 U-18 A team and goalie coach for the 2023-2024 U-12A team.
Stuart and his staff encourage players to develop to their full potential by providing age-appropriate programming with an emphasis on individual skill improvement through the team concept. Stuart helps his players reach their potential through accountability, teamwork, individual skill development, and building self-confidence. He aims to help his players develop those hockey and life skills that will aid their growth as players and as individuals.
Stuart’s personal coaching philosophy centers on fostering a positive and inclusive environment where every player feels valued and motivated. He believes in the power of constructive feedback and consistent support to help players overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Stuart again welcomes the opportunity to represent the NMHA and support the program by coaching the 2025-2026 I-14A team.
