Tyke Select take Oshawa Heritage Classic Tournament
Submitted By Dan Levesque on Thu 02 11, 16
Congratulations to the Newmarket Redmen Tyke Select team on their Championship win at the recent Oshawa Heritage Classic Tournament over the February 5th – 7th weekend.

As a result of a committed team effort, hard work, prolific offence, sound defence and tremendous goaltending the Tyke Redmen went undefeated in their round robin games.

In the Championship game the team faced a strong and determined undefeated Peterborough Petes team which produced an exciting, fast paced, hard fought,  competitive & action packed 3 periods of regulation hockey that ended with the teams tied 1 – 1.

After the teams exchanged many scoring chances in a nail biting sudden death overtime period, the Tyke Redmen earned the Championship trophy in a thrilling sudden death shootout!

Many special thanks to all the families and friends for their amazing support and for cheering the team on throughout the tournament.

Congratulations to the players for their amazing effort & teamwork!
