NMHA is partnering with the Newmarket Soccer Association and Newmarket Skating Club to support the Rose of Sharon: Services for Young Mothers
This winter, the Newmarket Minor Hockey Association (NMHA) is proud to support Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers, an incredible local organization that has been helping pregnant and parenting youth across York Region for more than 40 years. Rose of Sharon provides 100% free support to young mothers and their children, including food, essential supplies, education, childcare, and mental health services. Many of the families they serve face food insecurity, housing instability, and limited resources, making the winter months especially challenging. Currently, over 150 local families rely on monthly care packages containing food, diapers, hygiene items, and children’s essentials just to get through the month.
As part of this initiative, NMHA will be collecting donations at the Magna Centre, Newmarket Renegades Boardroom on Friday, February 20 from 5–8pm, Saturday, February 21 from 9am–2pm, and Sunday, February 22 from 9am–2pm. Donations of personal care items, baby essentials, diapers, formula, non-perishable food items, and grocery gift cards are greatly appreciated. By coming together as a hockey community, we can help ensure young mothers and babies in our area feel supported, cared for, and valued. This is teamwork beyond the game and a meaningful way to show our players and families the importance of giving back and supporting our community.
