Newmarket Renegades U11AA team started off the season with a BANG capturing its very own Newmarket Renegades Early Bird Tournament this past weekend!
The team started off slow with a 0-2-1 round robin record but managed to squeeze into the semifinal after skating to a 4-4 tie with Ajax-Pickering. They lined up in the semis vs Gloucester and played some of their best hockey skating to an upset 2-1 win, landing them in the finals at Sadlon Center in Barrie for the Championship game. The Renegades faced an undefeated 4-0 Ottawa Silver Sevens in the championship game and Newmarket found themselves down 3-1 with 4 minutes to play. The teams grit, determination, and “never giving up attitude” rise to the occasion witch sparked a comeback and the Renegades managed to score 3 goals in the dying minutes to become tournament champs, winning 4-3!!This Championship is a testament to the incredible attitude, teamwork, and resilience of the entire group.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families on an unforgettable opening weekend tournament.
Good luck the rest of the season U11AA Renegades!
