On
behalf of the NMHA I want to congratulate our cross town rivals the Aurora
Tigers on their well-deserved victory in this year’s Battle of Yonge St.
The
final tally was 18 wins for the NMHA, 25 wins for the AMHA and 9 ties.
Despite the tough
results overall, the NMHA had a couple of wonderful stories and in my mind
probably the best was our Minor Atom A team who went into the weekend winless
on the season but came away with
two amazing victories. Hopefully this weekend becomes a springboard for the remainder of their season.
I managed to watch pieces of a lot of games over the weekend and was very impressed with the work ethic of all our players, which bodes well for the remainder of the season.
I also want to thank our many volunteers and sponsors for helping us make this weekend the special event that it is. Sponsors like Vince’s Market, Lion’s Share, Aspen Marketing and of course our primary sponsor this season, Pfaff.
Finally, I can’t forget our NMHA families. It’s your energy and excitement that makes this all work the way it does. This weekend is a unique experience in minor hockey. Nowhere else in the OMHA does this type of event take place. Each year it gets a little better and that’s thanks to all of you.
Go Redmen Go!
