Tonight kicks off the 9th edition of the
annual home-and-home series between the NMHA and the AMHA. The series is
currently tied 4-4. Everything starts tonight with the Jr. A game between the
Hurricanes and Tigers at Ray Twinney. All players from both Associations
wearing their team jersey get into the game for free tonight and parents are 2
for 1. Let’s make sure the rink is filled to capacity with our ‘N’ tonight as
we cheer on the Hurricanes to victory and a 1-0 lead going into the weekend!
I would like to encourage everyone to come out to Magna and the ACC throughout this weekend to cheer on all the players. Starting Friday evening, 52 games will be played and every game will mean something in the totals.
Let us not forget that we are once again doing a food drive collecting non-perishable food for the Newmarket Food Pantry as well as raising funds for the Foster Parents Association of York Region and the AMHA are raising funds for the United Church of Aurora which tragically burnt to the ground a number of months back. We are also very fortunate to have a number of great sponsors who have stepped forward to help us out with this weekend. I want to make special mention of Pfaff Automotive Group, Vince’s Food Market, Lionshare and of course our good friends at Aspen Marketing Services. They have all been spectacular supporters of the NMHA and we are very grateful for their contributions in making this the weekend experience it will be.
This is a great community event!
There are few weekends that create such a wonderful energy at the rinks. It doesn’t matter if it’s your team or not or whether you play Rep or HL, this is a great opportunity to watch some fantastic, fun games and I hope to see you all come out, enjoy the hockey and cheer loudly.
GO REDMEN GO!!
