Dear
Members,
Thank you
to those that attended our Annual General Meeting on Saturday, April 20th,
2024. For those not in attendance my name is Chris Neale and I have been given
the task of serving as your Association President for the next two years.
To
give you a little bit of my history, I have been involved with the NMHA for the
past 14 years as a parent of two players, trainer, assistant coach, coach and
on the Executive as Communication Director. I also sit on the organizing
committee for the International Silver Stick – Newmarket Finals.
I have worked in the golf industry for my entire
work career and have served on the boards of the various clubs I have managed
over the past 25 years. I am currently the General Manager of The Summit Golf
Club in Richmond Hill. I have also served on boards of some of the associations
that are involved in the golf industry.
This season was my youngest boy’s last season of Rep hockey at the U18
age group. While I will very much miss coaching, I want to stay involved with
the NMHA and to continue to give back to the NMHA and the Renegades hockey
program.
I am
excited to lead a group of very invested volunteers on our Executive who are
committed to make the Newmarket Minor Hockey Association the greatest it can
be. Our Executive for the 2024-2025 season is as follows:
Treasurer
– Robert Cecutti, [email protected]

– Victoria Amor Steinberg, [email protected]
Past

Our
Administration and Registration Manager is Cathy Kopsala who can be reached at [email protected].
We are
still looking for interested people to fill the following Executive roles:
House
League Alternate – Senior Divisions
Fundraising
We are
also looking for volunteers to help with Home and Home Weekend, House League
Championship Day, U9 Full Ice Celebration and the International Silver Stick –
Newmarket Finals.
If you are
interested in one of the vacant Executive roles or to volunteer, please reach
out to me directly or to Cathy Kopsala at [email protected].
Our Executive was already in
discussions for some exciting programs we want to implement for the new season.
Some of the goals we have set for our association are:
- To make the NMHA accessible to all by developing affordable solutions for those families where cost is a barrier to participation
- To offer cost effective learn to play programs for Newmarket resident children ages four to six
- To enhance our House League and Representative development programs
- To successfully implement the new Competitive Pathways Program (CPP)
- To build on the success of our goalie development program that was implemented this past season
We need to make real efforts to get more kids playing hockey, to foster their love of the game and to keep them playing long after their Renegades career is over.
After all, hockey keeps us fit, teaches us so many life lessons and is simply......the greatest team sport!!
GO RENEGADES!!!
Chris Neale

Newmarket Minor Hockey Association
