Congratulations to the U16 AA Renegades on their Championship win at the OMHA Championships in Kingston this past weekend.  For the 2nd year in a row, this team represented the Town of Newmarket with tremendous skill, strength, dedication, class and pride!

The players showed up in Kingston to win after their OMHA Finalist performance last season, and they battled hard all weekend.  The Renegades were undefeated through round robin play with wins against the Belleville Bulls and Belle River Jr. Canadiens, and a tie against the Milton Winterhawks. In the semi-finals, the Renegades faced the Niagara Falls Flyers, and put together an incredible effort to secure a 5-3 win to move on to the finals.

In the Championship game vs. the Northumberland Nighthawks, both teams played a very close and entertaining game and were up 2-1 going into the 3rd period.  In the end, the Renegades held off a Northumberland goal to seal their victory!!!  This OMHA championship win was the final achievement in an incredible run to end the season with a 44-13-8 record and being ranked 5th in the province overall.

The team would like to thank our incredible players, parent group, family, friends, fans, and sponsors who have been so supportive of the players and coaching staff throughout the season.  This is an outstanding group of young men who worked incredibly hard and came together as a family this past season.  A very special thanks to our head coach, Steve Levick for his time and dedication over the last few years.  Steve is retiring from coaching – and what a finish!
