U9AA and U10AA Collaborate For Massive Food Drive!!!
During the month of
December the U9AA and the U10AA Renegades teams held a food drive challenge in
support of the Newmarket Food Pantry.
What started out as a
friendly competition between two hockey teams to see who could collect the most
food for our neighbours in need quickly turned into one giant collaboration.
The idea was to host a food drive, understand
community needs, and learn about leadership and transferable skills that will
last a lifetime. Message received…....
When preparation, teamwork, communication, joy, and heart & hustle finally met – the result was over 10,000 pounds of food
donated to the Newmarket Food Pantry!!!
The event concluded with a celebration of success "Winter Classic Outdoor Hockey Game". Hot chocolate and pizza were served as well as a surprise visit from Mayor Taylor to drop the puck for the opening faceoff.
Thank you to coaches Jack Hardill and Bill Hutton, and all parents for your support, and then letting the little Renegades run wild to do what they do best!
And most importantly, thank you to the players, you have inspired us all."
