House League Update
With hockey starting in just over a month, I wanted to put some information out to the community on dates, registration information and news related to House League hockey in Newmarket for the 2019-20 season.

Select Tryouts

The timing for these tryouts is still being worked on, but as of right now, the select try outs will be on Saturday September 7th at Pfaff Arena and Sunday September 8th at Scotiabank arena.  Times to be published later.

House League Loops with Local Centres

In the past couple years, our Novice teams have been paired up with Aurora.  This year, we will be paired up with EG and Bradford.  This will allow kids to do a bit of local travel and to have them playing in a loop with more than 4 teams.

Peewee through Midget/Juvenile will again be paired up with Bradford for games through the season as it was last year.

Registration Information and Remaining Slots for teams:

Our registration numbers for atom through bantam are down this year, which will result in NMHA having 6 teams in these divisions (last year, Atom and Bantam had 8).

The number of remaining slots by division are:

Initiation - 32 open spots
Minor Novice - 18 open spots
Novice - 26 open spots
Atom - 13 Players, 1 goalie
Peewee - 18 players, 3 goalies
Bantam - 14 players, 1 goalie
Minor Midget - 20 players
Midget/Juvenile - 15 players 2 goalies, but we will allow players to register to a waiting list to allow them to be able to attend try outs since rep for this age group doesn't start until the Fall and Triple AAA tryouts have not yet finished.

Registration needs to be done through the NMHA office during business hours or over the phone at 905-898-0714.

House League Coaches and Trainers and Volunteers

As we started last year, new coaches and trainers are always welcome.  NMHA will pay for your first certification and as well, the NMHA this year will be providing a first aid kit to each division's convenor to help alleviate the cost to trainers for having to purchase their own kits.

Also since there is a reduction in teams, coaches, please submit your coaching applications through the NMHA website if you have not done so already.

Finally if you would like to help volunteer for a division (convenor, help out with timekeeping etc.) please contact myself at [email protected], and I will forward you on to the Alternate Rep for your division (Renee Morris for Initiation - Atom, Albert Bunker for Peewee - M/J).  We still need some convenors for several age groups.  We will be hosting a convenor and coaches meeting at the end of August or first week of September.

I look forward to having another great house league hockey season!
