Minor Atom A: So Close in E.G. Tournament!
Submitted By Mike Buchanan on Mon 04 09, 18
With some heavy hearts the Minor Atom A team tried their best to close out the season in style!!
The boys had a great run pushing through the round robin with a 3-0 record. Saturday afternoon they played North Durham for the second straight and came out victorious again. That set a date for the final against a great Newmarket rival The E.G. Eagles.

The boys had a great run pushing through the round robin with a 3-0 record. Saturday afternoon they played North Durham for the second straight and came out victorious again. That set a date for the final against a great Newmarket rival The E.G. Eagles.

It was a hard fought game with the score going back and forth ending at 3-3 after regulation. 5 minutes of fast paced overtime solved nothing, leaving the game to be decided by a shootout. After 6 rounds the Eagles finally won it!

Congratulations to the Eagles and the The Redmen for a great game and a big thank you to the teams for some exciting hockey and to our families and friends for supporting the teams in the final!

On the heels of the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos you realize how special the hockey community is. The boys displayed the Broncos names on their helmets in honour of the victims, and played their hearts out for the Broncos.

I am very proud of each and every one of the boys on the team and I thank them for the opportunity to coach them this year.
