NMHA TO OPEN TO NON-RESIDENT PLAYERS (NRPs) FROM MINOR PEEWEE TO MAJOR MIDGET FOR THE 2017-2018 SEASON
In order to align
with all other associations in the OMHA, the NMHA will be open to Non-Resident
Players (NRP’s) from Minor Peewee to Major Midget for the 2017-2018 season.
For those
who are unfamiliar with the Non-Resident Player (NRP) process, here is some
clarifying information as outlined by the OMHA:
- To be eligible, the player is required to be the Minor Peewee age and above.
- Players bordering Newmarket in an A or AE centre, are free to try out for Newmarket AA (maximum of 3 NRP’s can be selected for the AA team).
- Eligible players must contact their home centre to acquire a NRP passport.
- If they DO NOT make the Newmarket AA team, they HAVE to go back to their A or AE centre.
- It DOES NOT mean that Newmarket players are free to leave and go to other centres at the AA/A/AE levels. The only exception is if the NMHA does not ice a team at a certain level. For example, this past year Midget Level did not ice an A team. Any players in Newmarket who were released from the Midget AA team were free to try out at a bordering A centre (with NMHA approval).
For further information on the NRP process, please refer to Regulation 3.5 (c) on page 96 of the 2016-2017 OMHA Manual of Operations:
