Minor Atom AE Announces New Goalie Training Partner for 2017-18 Season
The Minor Atom AE team would like to welcome Tom Lawson of Lawson Goaltending as our official Goaltending Training Partner for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
Tom has extensive experience as a goaltender and a coach. He is currently the goaltending coach for the Aurora Tigers Jr A, York Simcoe Express and the St Andrew's College Saints varsity hockey team.
Tom earned a NCAA Division 1 scholarship to Bowling Green University in Ohio. In 2003 he signed as a free agent with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL . He spent three years in the AHL with the Hershey Bears and Lowell. In 2006 Tom began his goaltending career overseas in Findland. In 2007 Tom became the first ever North American to play for the Russian “Red Army” in the Russian super league. That season he lead the RSL in wins, games played, shut outs and saves. He then signed a two year contract in Novosibirsk when the RSL turned into the Russian KHL in 2008. Tom retired from hockey in 2010 after playing his last season in Leksand Sweden.
